2024 Annual Commemoration of Evacuation Day

On November 25, 1783 the Revolutionary War officially ended and the British finally left New York. The British flag was removed and the new American one hoisted at Bowling Green. Last Saturday, November 23rd, the Lower Manhattan Historical Association in conjunction with the Sons of the Revolution in the State of New York, Veteran Corps of Artillery - State of New York, Gold’s Dragoons, and the Hercules Mulligan Society observed the holiday with a parade, fife and drums and a ceremony with the flags at the co-named Evacuation Day Plaza.
